Get ready for National Fish and Chip Day!
The biggest food awareness day of the year, National Fish and Chip Day, is back for its 7th year, on Friday 27th May 2022 and everybody should be shouting about it. NEODA believes it is really important this year more than ever and let’s face it; everybody needs a feel good day!
The industry has been hit hard over the past couple of years but it has been resilient, adapted and has bounced back with a bang. Following the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, price increases are impacting everybody and we want to give the shops a well-deserved boost with this much loved day. It’s good to have an awareness day to promote ‘Brand Fish & Chips’ - it has always been a day to celebrate the entire sector and the valued part they play in their communities and this year is no different. It’s a day to generate goodwill amongst the local community and remind them why fish and chips is the nation’s favourite dish!
With only 4 weeks to go, we would like to ask for your support promoting the day through your social media channels.
Firstly, it would be great if you could change your social media header or profile images – attached are some graphics that are already the correct size so you just need to drop them in.

- Save
- From the Home screen, click Profile in the menu
- Click the Edit Profile button
- Click the camera icon on the header image
- Add image then gives you the option to add a photo
- Upload the relevant image from the attachment

BE “HUMAN” Instagram is the perfect tool to show the human side and personality of your shop, engage your audience as well as feature the individuals involved in your event.
Picture of the day/videos you could share a picture of the day on Instagram e.g. excited staff receiving the day’s delivery of fresh fish or preparing the batter or even a happy customer eating fish and chips! This is a great way of sharing a bit of insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes of a fish and chip shop or restaurant too.
You could also put a video up on Instagram, for instance show the best way to make batter, or fry a piece of cod.
Creating engagement - Very much similar to Twitter and Facebook. Use hashtags # and maybe run a competition on the best fish and chip photo. Ask people to send in their best photo of them eating fish and chips and then ask people to vote for their favourite picture.
