The National Fish & Chip Awards 2011
The National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year competition, organised by the industry body Seafish, celebrates its 23rd year in January 2011.
The idea for the competition came from fryers back in 1987, with the first competition held in 1988, which saw Toff’s of Muswell Hill in London becoming chippy champion.
Shops will be judged this year by a selection of industry representatives including organisations such as Seafish, the National Edible Oils Distributors Association, the National Federation of Fish Friers together with industry experts.
This year sees the prestigious competition evolving to better reflect the industry’s requirements and engage even more fish and chip shops in the annual awards.
The winner will be announced by the leading food and restaurant critic, television presenter and accomplished novelist Jay Rayner on 20 January 2011 in London.
